RS-485 and CAN "features" with 2x interconnected Seplos v16 BMS
See recent videos covering Seplos from Off Grid Garage YT channel. I decided to solve this issue by building custom device which will be connected in between Seplos BMSes (all in slave mode) and an inverter. It will collect data from individual BMS via common RS485 bus and provide consolidated info to the inverter.

You need to find an active balancer that will balance only under appropriate conditions. I.e. activate the balancing only under specific conditions. Let''s say over 3.45V.

I don''t know anything about the Seplos, but is is normal that the BMS will tell the inverter at what current to charge. Typically there should be a setting in the BMS to set a maximum charge current. Furthermore a BMS will likely reduce charge current when the SOC approaches 100%, cell voltage hits a pre-defined value or the temperature is low.

The white one in the middle is what came with the BMS direct from Seplos. I asked Seplos to supply it in order that I got a compatible convertor. The other two were purchased online. But now I look at the Seplos website I see that although it says for use with Seplos smart BMS it also clearly states USB convertor. See the attached pic.
